Winter 2015 Newsletter

Happy New Year from the Cuttyhunk Yacht Club!  I hope you’re staying warm this winter and looking forward to summer days.

The 2014 season was very successful and I'd like to thank all the instructors for the wonderful job they did. This past summer Cathy Broderick concluded her tenure as Commodore and I want to offer a special thanks to her for the dedication, hardwork, and many important contributions she made over the years. 

I also want to thank all the many people who help out the club in numerous ways.  The contribution by a large community of volunteers, with tasks both big and small, is what makes the Cuttyhunk Yacht Club successful.  For the past 60 years the CYC has introduced children to boats and taught them how to sail and enjoy the sea.  This wonderful part of our island community is made possible through the efforts of many people and every little bit helps.  Thank you all so much.

News and Announcements 

As the days slowly get longer and we begin to think about the days of summer, here are a few announcements and pieces of business.  If there are announcements that you would like to have included in the next newsletter, please send them to me at cyckidder@gmail.com

Interested in being a CYC instructor? 
If you are interested in being considered for a CYC sailing instructor position please complete a short summary (less than 500 words) summarizing your interest in being a CYC instructor and your sailing experience.  It is preferred if instructors are available between June 13 and August 22 2015.  You may submit the application via email to John Kidder, CYC Commodore at cyckidder@gmail.com.  If you have any questions, please email them to the same address.  Applications are due by Friday February 13 2015.

Photo Contest!
Do you have any great photos from the 2014 summer?  We're in the process of updating the website and could use some recent photos.  To encourage submissions we will be offering CYC Boutique prizes for the best submissions in three categories -Fun on the Water, Sailing Action, and Yacht Club Scenes.  Email submissions to cyckidder@gmail.com by February 20, 2015.  Thanks!

17-21 August - Last Week of Classes
